Pleural is the most common followed by peritoneal and pericardium.

Asbestos is the first cause of mesothelioma. Asbestos is a fine fibre material which is resistant to heat. These fibres when inhaled in the air and then reached passages pleural cells. Asbestos injury pleural cells and this injury leads to benign or malignant transformation. Asbestos is found in many types of industrial supplies and equipment. Asbestos exposure does not immediately mesothelioma lead. Often, it takes decades before the person manifests symptoms of the disease. Smoking does not lead to mesothelioma, although the risk is more for a smokers exposed to asbestos.


Q. What are the symptoms of mesothelioma?


A. often confused with pneumonia, mesothelioma is very difficult to diagnose based on symptoms alone. The most common symptoms include:


Persistent cough.
Shortness of breath.
Chest pain.
Place swelling of the face and neck.
Coughing up blood.
Nausea and vomiting.
Weight loss.
Loss of appetite.


Not all exposed to asbestos will develop mesothelioma. However keep in mind the risk of mesothelioma and asbestos exposure and talking to a doctor will help early detection and screening for the disease.
